The Glory of Rome Turns the knife to his throat In the eyes of the people He dies a joke Triumvir of the East Falls to his knees And into the leash Of a wicked Queen He who once walked so tall Now crawls Held the world in his hands But let it fall For the sorceress of the Nile Delta He just couldn't help it He just couldn't help himself Mark Antony and me will both go down in history As love's most tragic fools Cleopatra's favorite tools I'd give up all of Rome, And run far from home, Just to bleed to death On a foreign throne Oh, love's most tragic fools Are Cleopatra's favorite tools You go first my love I will be right behind you I promise You gotta learn your history Or you'll repeat it And I've been doing my reading But when she says, "Jump" I say, "How high?" Cause I just can't help it I just can't help myself Mark Antony and me will Go down in history As love's most tragic fools I'd give up all of Rome I'd run far from home Just to bleed to death On a desert floor Oh love's most tragic fools Are Cleopatra's favorite tools Mark Antony and me will Both go down in History As love's most tragic fools Cleopatra's favorite tools I'd give up all of Rome, And run far from home, Just to bleed to death On a foreign throne Oh, love's most tragic fools Make Cleopatra's favorite tools Mark Antony and me will Go down in history As love's most tragic fools Mark Antony Mark Antony and me will Go down-down-down

Caesar Wept 03:23
Another masterpiece From such a brilliant mind The gold that is his Only serves to remind me Of the trash that's mine And when I begin to ask myself, "Why?" And "Who am I to even try?" I like to remind myself Of the story I heard About a tall statue In a provincial town The ambitious young man Who stood on the ground To look up at him He felt so small Beneath the glory Beneath the grandeur When he looked at Alexander Even Caesar wept Great men have stood here before Even 2,000 years ago And there's no promises There is no guarantee But it's happened before In history And you could be just like them You in your podunk town Even Caesars before you Stood on the ground To look up at him He felt so small Beneath the glory Beneath the grandeur When he looked at Alexander Even Caesar wept To compare himself to the man they call The Great To think his time had come and gone And that he'd been too late Yes, even Caesar wept To compare himself to the greats The man they called The Great He looked up at him He felt so small Beneath the glory Beneath the grandeur He looked up at him And he felt so small Beneath the glory Beneath the Grandeur Even Caesar wept

about

The history of Ancient Rome is filled with extraordinary men, and even more extraordinary events. Despite the many differences between our world, and the world of Ancient Rome, there are still many ways we can feel a personal connection to their past. In these new songs I explore personal connections I felt to two great men in Roman history, Mark Antony and Julius Caesar.
